China’s Jinping gains Mao status

China’s ‘Paramount Leader’ Xi Jinping’s political thoughts were put in the Constitution, putting him in the same company as the founder of modern China, Mao Zedong.

China’s ruling Communist Party passed the amendment to include ‘ Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era’ as one of it’s guiding principles at the end of week-long Congress.

The Party will announce it’s new Standing Committee, the apex of power in China around 04:00 GMT, culminating a twice-a-decade leadership reshuffle.

The amendment also included party’s ‘absolute’ leadership over military.
