Spain PM Mariano Rajoy ordered to strip the Catalonian ministers led by Carles Puidegemont of their jobs and their ministries taken over, on Saturday.
“Yesterday (Saturday) there was a fully fledged coup against Catalonian instituitions”, said a spokesperson from the Catalonian governement.
PM Rajoy has ordered fresh elections to be called within six months, which would see polls held by mid-June at the latest.
Analysts have said that the current situation in Catalonia is as bad as the times of Franco who stamped down on the local tongue and banned everything Catalonian.
In Northern Italy, regions of Lombardy and Venetto were voting on Sunday in referendum on autonomy.
