Scientists have developed a new smartphone app that will help people learn the art of taking the perfect selfie. The app uses an alogorithmthat directs the user where to position the camera, allowing them to take the best shot possible. Traditional camera apps beautifies a selfie after it’s taken, but this new app will allow the users to know why the selfie is better.
Developed by Vogel & Qifan Li at the University of Waterloo, Canada, the alogorithm uses 3-D digital scans of average looking people and gets an in-depth analysis how it can look better.
The researchers used an online crowd-sourcing service and made people vote on the best selfies. The results showed that there was 26% improvement with selfies taken by this new app.
